Man Utd stars Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford jet off to Dubai with target John McGinn

Manchester United target John McGinn has been pictured heading to Dubai alongside side current Old Trafford stars Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire.

The Aston Villa midfielder has been linked with a move to the Red Devils in the past, and such speculation has reignited.

United are in the market for options in the middle of the park.

The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have often commanded central midfield roles, but some believe upgrades are necessary if the club want to continue improving.

McGinn has impressed at Villa Park and has attracted admiring glances.

He is now heading off to enjoy some sun as the Premier League players enjoy a winter break.

The Scot was with Villa teammate Tyrone Mings and will be joined by Rashford, Maguire and Diogo Dalot.

Currently, Villa are bolstering their options following the arrivals of Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne.

Losing McGinn would be a blow and Steven Gerrard is adamant the Midlands outfit have no plans to sell up.

"We are certainly not a club that is looking to sell. Our intention is to keep John McGinn here," he said.

"We don’t want to be a selling club unless there is a situation, as with [Jack] Grealish [to Manchester City ], which works itself out if you like.

"We want [McGinn] to remain a Villa player and we can’t be any clearer on that. We love the player, we love the human being and we want to help him.

"We certainly see it as a compliment when our best players, or any of our players, are linked with big moves away. I think it shows they are playing at a consistent level."

Back in 2020 McGinn penned a new deal which tied him down at Villa Park until 2025.

United spent big in the summer on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

However that investment has not helped them rise up the table and they remain in a battle to simply make the top four.

Ralf Rangnick is now at the helm and is set to remain in a consultancy role, which will see him influence the club's recruitment.

RB Leipzig's Amadou Haidara has been linked with an Old Trafford switch this month, but so far no moves have been made.

West Ham's Declan Rice has also been linked with a move to the red half of Manchester.

The Englishman said following West Ham's away day defeat: "I was loving it. Every time I come to Old Trafford, I've always said it's one of my favourite places to play.

"It's an amazing stadium."
