Amazon Prime are set to create a new documentary focusing on Manchester United's treble-winning season of 1999.
The historic achievement stands alone in English football - although Manchester City are doing their upmost to join them by doing the treble themselves. Amazon are now looking to take a trip down memory lane ahead of the 25th anniversary of the iconic feat.
The documentary will not be released until next year with few details being given away following Amazon's announcement on Thursday. Major figures from United's season, the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, could be contributors.
The club's campaign saw several historic moments take place, most notably their last-gasp Champions League final win over Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp. Ryan Giggs also scored an iconic FA Cup semi-final goal to see off Arsenal whilst United needed a final day win to edge the title race.
Man City, Tottenham and Arsenal have all been the subject of fly-on-the-wall documentaries produced by Amazon that have been well received, whilst the streaming service have also excelled in shining a light on other sports teams like the New Zealand All Blacks and NHL side the Toronto Maples Leafs.
There is no news as to how many episodes will feature nor is there a release date, as per the Daily Mail. Amazon previously signed Paul Pogba to a documentary in his final season at Old Trafford, which allowed the Frenchman to air his views and reasons for leaving the club.
United still have the opportunity this season to stop City emulating their historic achievement. Pep Guardiola's side have already captured the Premier League but will face the Red Devils in the FA Cup final at Wembley next weekend before playing Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Despite its place in history, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has recently suggested United's treble was largely down to luck and City's efforts would surpass them. "If Manchester City win the treble, it will be the best ever," he told Sky Sports. "If you go through the Manchester United one in 1998/99, Dennis Bergkamp misses a penalty with the last kick of the game in the FA Cup semi-final, United win.
"Against Bayern Munich, it wasn't far off one of the most one-sided Champions League finals you'll ever see. Bayern were taking people off at the end to get a round of applause. Players were running through trying to lob Peter Schmeichel.
"In the Premier League, the title was in Arsenal's hands before they lost at Leeds in the penultimate game of the season. Manchester United got lucky in 1999, but if City go on and win the treble, there will be no luck involved at all."
