Manchester United's scouts reportedly didn't share Erik ten Hag's enthusiasm about new signing Lisandro Martinez before the centre-back's arrival from Ajax.
Martinez joined United in a deal worth up to £55m, after winning Ajax's player of the year award as they won the 2021-22 Eredivisie. He has endured a difficult start after following Erik ten Hag to England, though, with the 13-time Premier League champions losing both of their first two league games.
The 24-year-old was blamed for one of Brentford's goals on Saturday as the Bees beat Ten Hag's side 4-0, and was withdrawn at half-time in one of a number of changes. With former United captain Gary Neville firing a warning shot to his old club off the back of the defeat, it could become a testing time for player and manager.
