Man Utd's transfer stance on Ruben Neves after Wolves slap price tag on midfielder

Manchester United would need to pay in the region of £40m if they wanted to sign Ruben Neves.

Wolves have slapped a hefty valuation on the midfielder, who has previously been linked with an Old Trafford switch.

Neves was among those who could've left Molineux in the summer as the club experienced a change in the dugout.

However, he remained and has looked back to his best as Wolves continue to push for Europe under Bruno Lage.

Neves was key in his side's win at Old Trafford back in December but, according to the MEN previously, United have no huge desire to pursue the player.

They claim had a move been on the cards an offer would've been lodged in the past.

Neves himself recently distanced himself from a Wolves exit after the club set their asking price, reports the Sun.

"It's normal in football," he told Record last month, addressing the ongoing speculation. "Whenever there's a transfer market there's a lot of talk, but my goal and focus are on Wolverhampton and I'm not going to change that, things have been going really well for me.

"I still have a lot to learn, I have a lot to give here.

"The future will be seen soon, I like to live in the present and I'm happy, I feel great in Wolverhampton and I'll focus here, because if I do things right I'm sure the future will be bright.

"My goal will always be to give my best and give even more for the club."

As it is other targets look to be more favoured at Old Trafford with central midfielder seen as an area that can be improved.

Amadou Haidara from RB Leipzig has been touted as a possible target whilst Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham continue to be on their radar.

Time is running out to make any January moves with Rangnick currently picking from Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.

Instead it is more likely that players will leave the red half of Manchester.

Several individuals have grown frustrated by their lack of minutes and opportunities and could seek pastures new.

Jesse Lingard has turned down a new deal at Old Trafford and could leave, either on loan or permanently, with Newcastle United keen.

Donny van de Beek is also upset with his current predicament having spent much of the season on the bench once again.

A loan move to Crystal Palace has been touted with the player looking to plat regularly ahead of this winter's World Cup.
