Man Utd's Brandon Williams takes swipes on Instagram after Man City complete treble

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has taken aim at Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand and Manchester City following the Champions League final.

City beat Inter Milan 1-0 thanks to a goal from Rodri to win the Champions League and complete a historic treble in the process, having already won the Premier League and the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola's side are the first team to complete the feat since rivals United did 24 years ago under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And Williams decided to remind fans that United did it first, writing on his Instagram story: "Nobody wants a sloppy seconds." Williams then turned his attention to Ferdinand, who was working as a pundit on BT Sport's coverage of the final.

The 22-year-old took issue with Ferdinand praising City's achievements, branding him "fake". Williams wrote: @rioferdy5 Bet you don't congratulate if you was player keeep the same morals. too face is boring."

He continued: "You don't praise simple as. Fakessssssssss for [money emoji]." It comes after Ferdinand said City's players have become "immortal" by winning the treble and labelled them a "fantastic team".

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: " Immortal. Statues galore. They've earned it. Listen, this team have played a brand of football that is looked at around the world and is admired.

"This has been a project and a process for many years now with Pep Guardiola coming in, but these players have produced some football that has been out of this world individually, but as a collective this team will go down in history.

Williams shared several Instagram stories criticising both City and Ferdinand (Brandon Williams Instagram)

" They deserve to. A fantastic team. They've dug deep when they've needed to and they've been able to play both sides of the game. That's been the difference between this Manchester City team to past ones.

"They can pass, they can play the fairytale football, but when need be they can dig in, roll their sleeves up and fight through games as well. Balance is everything in this team."

And after the game, Guardiola revealed that even Ferguson sent him a good luck message before the final, saying: "I was so happy to get a message from Sir Alex Ferguson on my phone this morning. It touched me. I am so happy to be sat alongside Sir Alex. Winning the Treble is so difficult, but it was written in the stars that we would win this season."
