Manchester United could welcome back both Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen this weekend as they aim to take a step towards securing a top-four spot.
The Red Devils take on struggling Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and have the opportunity to build a six-point buffer between themselves and Tottenham in fifth. Erik ten Hag ’s men will also be aiming to make it back-to-back victories at home following their slender 1-0 success over Brentford last time out.
Despite that win, United were hit with a major blow during that game after left-back Shaw was withdrawn during the first period after holding his hamstring. Speaking after the game, United boss Ten Hag said: "I can't say in this moment [what the injury is].
"I have to wait for tomorrow, what the diagnosis is, I took him straight off, didn't want to risk. But we have to wait what's the outcome."
Fortunately, it appears that the England defender has avoided a serious problem. According to The Times, Shaw has undergone further testing which has revealed that the concern should not be serious.
That could well mean that he will be included in the squad to take on Everton. Shaw has been a key player for Ten Hag this season with the 27-year-old having made 24 Premier League appearances so far throughout the campaign.

He also put pen to paper on a new contract at Old Trafford earlier this week. Whilst he could be included in the squad to take Everton, the Red Devils might also be able to welcome back Danish playmaker Eriksen.
The former Tottenham man has been on the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury back in January. He has since returned to training with Ten Hag set to make a decision over whether to include him in the squad for this weekend’s game.
Speaking to Viaplay, the Dutchman said: "We will see. We see it from day to day. He is progressing.
“He is now back only this week in team training tomorrow [Thursday] and the day after tomorrow [Friday]. We have two sessions. After that, we will decide if he is back in the squad again."
Eriksen, now 31, has caught the eye during his first season at Old Trafford after arriving on a free transfer. Ahead of his injury, he had made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing nine assists.
Whilst the pair will provide huge boosts to Ten Hag’s team selection, the Red Devils are still without the services of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro who is still serving suspension. Donny van De Beek and Alejandro Garnacho both remain ruled out after their respective injuries.
