Chelsea star Mason Mount is looking increasingly likely to leave the club this summer as rivals queue up to lodge bids to land the midfielder. The 24-year-old is nearing the end of his contract with the Blues as just over 12-months remain on his current deal with no agreement on an extension in sight.
That's despite winning the club's Player of the Year award twice in a row, having impressed since taking the step to the first-team from the Cobham academy. This campaign has been more of a struggle for Mount, who has been in and out of the team through both form and injury.
“I don’t know the answer to that, it’s a conversation between Mason [Mount] and the club, so I don’t know,” interim manager Frank Lampard responded last month when asked about the future of Mount. "It’s not final at this point and we’ll have to see because those conversations are ongoing."

With the Blues looking to avoid losing Mount on a free, a transfer this summer looks likely, though his future could still be decided by the next manager. football.london understands that Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a deal to become the new Chelsea head coach, though the role of Mount within his plans is yet unknown.
While that is being understood, the Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are preparing a bid for the England international in the coming weeks. The value of the offer is said to be at £55million, though that is short of the £85million valuation that the west London outfit have set.
That opening offer could be swatted back as early talks often test the waters on these deals, though it will likely put other clubs on alert over the availability of Mount. Liverpool are one of the other teams heavily linked with a move, with the need to strengthen their midfield, while London rivals Arsenal also circle in hopes of bolstering their central ranks for next season.
It remains to be seen where the future will be for Mount and Chelsea, but their paths could go separate directions in the coming months as bids are prepared.
