Man Utd probable XI vs Arsenal with Ralf Rangnick to ring the changes after Paul Pogba blow

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick will welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo for the trip to Arsenal on Satutday.

The Portuguese superstar missed the humbling at Anfield on Tuesday night after he suffered a family tragedy on Monday night. The fans on Merseyside paid tribute to the No 7 - something he has since thanked them for - but United will be pleased to welcome back their most potent goal threat.

Ronaldo was among a host of first team stars missing for the trip to Liverpool and it told with Paul Pogba being forced off within ten minutes. The German confirmed the World Cup winner was out for several weeks which could put an end to his United spell with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Rangnick said on the Frenchman: "The doctor told me that it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover. And since the last game is at the end of May, I don't think that it is very likely that he will be able to play again."

Harry Maguire was part of a five-man backline against Liverpool but the Red Devils are set to revert back to a four with Victor Lindelof partnering him, although Raphael Varane is again fit. The United skipper has faced bomb threats this week and reports suggest he may not play, but the captain himself is determined to be involved.

Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles are poised to start either side of the defence with Scott McTominay occupying his usual role with Nemanja Matic alongside. Hannibal Mejbri enjoyed a brief cameo at Liverpool, but is not expected to start.

Jadon Sancho's arrival off the bench at Liverpool allowed United to enjoy their most dominant period, albeit a brief one, and the winger continues to make strides in his debut season. Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Elanga both started in midweek and the latter is due to keep his place ahead of Marcus Rashford, who was again largely ineffective, with the club's No 7 again available.

Where will Man Utd finish next season? Let us know in the comments

United's top four hopes hanging by a thread but Rangnick refused to get drawn on their Champions League ambitions insisting they simply need to improve their performance levels from Tuesday. He said: "I don't think it makes sense to speculate about how likely it still is that we can finish fourth or wherever. It doesn't make sense after a performance like that at Liverpool. We just need to make sure that we play far better.

"This is the only way to deal with it. We need to get the best possible team on the pitch and then play in a different way with more conviction, with more confidence, with more aggressive behaviour on the pitch."

Man Utd probable XI: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Matic; Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga; Ronaldo
