Man Utd news: Sheikh Jassim makes U-turn as Ten Hag is 'charmed' by transfer target

The takeover saga continues to rumble on, but Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is having to get on with his transfer business regardless.

The Dutch boss is planning a summer spending spree with his squad in need of reinforcements amid their return to Champions League football. And despite finishing third and lifting the Carabao Cup this season, he knows his side have ample to do if they are to breach the gap to champions Manchester City.

And ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, a number of players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. But a host of outgoings are also expected, with the future of club captain Harry Maguire in particular up in the air.

Take a look at all of the headlines to come out of Old Trafford over the past 24 hours:

Sheikh Jassim's dramatic U-turn

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has decided that his final bid for Manchester United will remain on the table even if the Glazers miss Friday’s deadline.

He lodged a fifth and final offer for United earlier this week. He also imposed a deadline of Friday to the Glazers, whilst also confirming that he would no longer engage with the process should his bid not be accepted. His offer was thought to be below the American family’s £6 billion asking price for the club and they have no intent to agree to a deal. In a surprising turn of events, Sheikh Jassim will remain in the running regardless.

According to The Guardian, his offer will remain on the table even after Friday’s deadline has passed. The ball would then remain in both the Glazers’ and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s courts as they consider their next moves.

Ten Hag 'charmed' by Serie A target

United are reportedly leading the race to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after Liverpool failed to land him in January.

Amrabat has already stated his preference is a move to the Premier League, and now his brother, Nordin, has handed Ten Hag further encouragement. The manager previously worked with the Moroccan international when he was coming through at Utrecht.

"Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible," he told ESPN. "But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him and they have a good relationship, so who knows."

Utd star has 'no chance' of moving

Victor Lindelof has been denied a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt after Erik ten Hag made it clear that he wants to keep him at Manchester United.

Lindelof, 28, emerged as a key player under Ten Hag in the latter stages of the season, deputising at centre-back after Lisandro Martinez suffered a serious metatarsal injury in April. The Swedish defender impressed alongside the likes of Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw, helping United secure a third-place finish in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final.

According to German publication BILD, Eintracht attempted to sign Lindelof back in January. The club recently made their interest known again but are said to stand 'no chance' of signing him this summer
