Man Utd news: Gary Neville's Cristiano Ronaldo claim as Wayne Rooney shares Sir Alex trait

Manchester United travel to the Etihad stadium for a derby clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

City are very much the side dominating the Manchester landscape at present, with the Blues chasing a fourth Premier League title in five seasons.

United legend Gary Neville has had his say on how a potential combined XI would look, and claimed his former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't be part of a Manchester XI.

However, according to Peter Barnes, who played for both clubs, Ronaldo would have been a success had he joined City last summer; he insists that he would have 25 goals by now, instead of the 15 he's notched in United colours.

Meanwhile, Louis Saha has claimed that former teammate Wayne Rooney shares a particular trait with Sir Alex Ferguson that will help him be successful in management.

Neville was asked by fellow pundit Micah Richards whether he would include his former teammate in a combined XI, but the 47-year-old had no room for the Portugal star.

Trait Rooney shares with Ferguson

Now, despite the off-field dramas at Derby County, the former England skipper has won plenty of plaudits - with Saha especially impressed.

Ronaldo ‘would score more at City’

Peter Barnes, one of only 34 players to have played for both City and United, believes Ronaldo would have thrived under Pep Guardiola on the blue side of Manchester.

Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in his second spell at United, who hijacked his proposed move to City last summer with a crucial intervention from his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson called Ronaldo, and persuaded him he had to rejoin United.
