Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag saw his side's four-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end at the hands of Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
The La Liga outfit ground out a 1-0 win to ensure that United's Europa League campaign got off to the worst possible start at Old Trafford, just days after the hosts had produced their most complete performance of the season against Arsenal.
The result is a major setback for Ten Hag, who had seen his team start to recover from a horrific start to the season. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest news from in and around Old Trafford in the wake of Thursday night's result...
Ten Hag suffers Europa setback
Manchester United's mini-unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at Old Trafford as they started their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad.
Neither side could break the deadlock in an even first half, although Cristiano Ronaldo did see a thumping header ruled out for offside. Brais Mendez fired Real Sociedad into a 58th minute lead from the spot after Lisandro Martinez was judged to have handled a strike in the penalty area.
United made changes in a bid to try and find an equaliser, but they were unable to muster up a response to salvage their recent four-match winning run.

Antony made the perfect start to his Manchester United career by scoring in last weekend's 3-1 win over Arsenal - but that wasn't the thing that impressed his boss the most.
Ten Hag has praised the impact of Antony and Marcus Rashford, who netted United's other two goals, but insisted that the overall work ethic and teamwork his side showed was the most pleasing aspect of the result.
"Antony and Marcus grabbed the headlines on Sunday, and deservedly so, but what pleased me most was the collective effort and strong teamwork," the United boss explained. "It is not the end of our development as a group. There is still a lot more improvement to come."
Mata closes in on Galatasaray move
Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has touched down in Turkey ahead of a potential move to Galatasaray.
The former Chelsea playmaker, who spent eight-and-a-half- years at United after leaving Stamford Bridge, departed Old Trafford at the end of his contract earlier in the summer.
And now the 34-year-old is now poised to link up with the Turkish Super League side. A statement was released that read: “Official negotiations have started with the football player regarding the transfer of professional football player Juan Manuel Mata Garcia to our club.”
