Manchester United were left shell shocked as they lost emphatically at Brentford - who hit the Red Devils for four.
Erik ten Hag watched on as his side conceded all four goals before half-time as their dismal start to the campaign continued after their loss to Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend. Questions are already being asked of the players, who again failed to deliver.
Gary Neville has offered his opinion on matters and gone after the Glazers once again. United's trophy drought dates back to 2017 and their persistent failures have seen their owners targeted by the Sky Sports pundit. These are the latest news lines coming out of Old Trafford.
De Gea takes blame
David de Gea stepped up and spoke to the cameras after United's defeat - admitting he felt he was to blame for the loss after he made a huge blunder for the opener. He let the ball slide under him before contributing massively to Brentford's second in west London.
He siad afterwards: "I think I cost my team three points today. It was a poor performance from myself. After the first mistake and then the second, it was very tough to be playing and it was a horrible day. Of course, we should react better but the moment we are living now is tough, every time we concede a goal. I should've saved the first shot and probably the result would be different."
When asked how United turn things around he responded: "I'm not sure, to be honest. Everyone is improving a lot and feels like we're on the same page. We must stick together."
Neville's Glazer issues
The former United man's issues with the club's ownership is well documented and he aired his issues once more after their loss. Neville called on the Glazers to explain themselves to the fans as the club's downward spiral continues.
He said: There's no leadership, no voice, you can't blame individual players or the manager. You have to look above, you have to look at the very top. This week, they're going to get peppered. But there's a family over there in America who are letting their employees take all the hits and that is unforgivable. Joel Glazer has got to get on a plane tomorrow, get over to Manchester and tell everyone what the hell his plan is with the football club.
We've got a decrepit, rooting stadium that is second rate when it was the best in the world 20 years ago. You've got a football project where they haven't got a clue, they put bankers in charge of the football club, they've not appointed a sporting director. You can look at the players all you like, but there are that many big things that need to be put right first. They've got to show up and face the music, you can't keep hiding in Tampa."
Ten Hag makes fan admission
Ten Hag has admitted he “feels sorry” for United fans as he offered a scathing assessment of his side’s performance in west London.
The Dutchman said: "It’s difficult for me and a surprise. The team has to take the responsibility and I feel sorry for the fans, we let them down. I asked them to play with belief and take responsibility, that is what they didn't do."
He also added: "Mistakes are part of football, you have to keep going but you have especially act. It (three changes) was about bringing fresh ones. I could have changed all eight others as well. We are as a team in a difficult process and you expect a different start. It seems like what happens in the past last season, we bring to this season. We have to change that quickly."
