Man Utd loanee Amad repeats incredible feat by scoring with first touch on Rangers debut

Amad Diallo replicated his incredible feat for Manchester United by scoring with his first touch on his debut with Scottish giants Rangers.

The Ivorian forward joined the Scottish club on a loan deal this week until the end of the campaign and he made an immediate impact on his debut at Ross County.

Amad joined the Red Devils in October 2020 in a deal that could be worth as much as £33million, but has barely played since his arrival at Old Trafford from Atalanta.

The teenage sensation netted on his United debut as he incredible bagged a goal with his first touch against Milan in their Europa League tie at Old Trafford.

It was an incredible impact for Amad, who netted in the 50 th minute having been introduced as a substitution at half time but, incredibly, his impact for Rangers was even more instant.

The 19-year-old scored just four minutes into his debut with the Glaswegian side as he lost his marker and tapped home from close range after a run and delivery from teammate Joe Aribo.

It was the player’s first involvement in the play which also replicated his immediate impact in United’s first team against Milan 10 months earlier for his parent club.

That time, Amad showed wonderful awareness to find space inside the Rossoneri’s penalty area before expertly lobbing his effort over a stranded Gianluigi Donnarumma.

His effort at Dingwall was much more straightforward as Aribo put it on a plate for Amad at the far post to apply the simplest of finishes into an empty net.

Rangers are currently involved in a pulsating title race, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men leading Celtic by four points at the top of the Scottish Premiership going into the weekend’s action.

Van Bronckhorst said after completing the signing of Amad: “I am really pleased to add Amad to our squad for the rest of the season.

“He is a player who I have been aware of for some time, and when the opportunity to sign him came up, we very keen to make it happen.

“He will add a lot to our squad and provide even more competition for the players in the forward areas.”

United are hopeful that Amad’s four months north of the border will provide him with sufficient first-team action to prepare him for more involvement at Old Trafford next season.

The 19-year-old has featured just once in the first-team for the Red Devils this season, playing 68 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the Champions League in December.

He found first-team opportunities more limited following the summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho at United, alongside the return of Jesse Lingard.
