Manchester United have reportedly been warned that a deal for Antony could set them back as much as €100million (£84.3m) - but a 'compromise' figure of around €94m (£79.2m) has also been mooted.
The Ajax forward has been chased by Erik ten Hag all summer, with the Dutchman desperate to reunite with the 22-year-old who dazzled for the Dutch champions last term. However, Ajax are reluctant to do business with United after losing the services of Lisandro Martinez to Ten Hag last month.
Despite that stance, Antony is sold on the idea of reuniting with his former boss in the Premier League and is pushing for a move - but United will have to pay a premium price if they are going to break Ajax's resistance before the September 1 deadline.
After Manchester United had a £67.9million bid rebuffed recently, a new report from The Athletic has outlined that a deal for Antony could end up costing north of £84m.
It has also been claimed that Ajax would perhaps be willing to compromise for a sum in excess of £79m, but that is likely to be scant consolation for the Old Trafford hierarchy after a previous report indicated that they felt their most recent bid was a 'fair reflection' of Antony's current market value.
Despite that, The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Manchester United are 'expected' to return with a new proposal for Antony in a bid to acquire one of Ten Hag's primary targets.

Antony recently refused to train with the Dutch champions in a bid to force a move and was absent from the Ajax side that beat Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend, but the Amsterdam outfit are standing firm.
If a deal cannot be achieved for the Brazilian forward, then United are likely to turn to another Eredivisie star in the form of Cody Gakpo. The PSV Eindhoven star has also been pursued by Premier League clubs after plundering 21 league goals last term, but so far, no club has properly tested PSV's resolve.
The same report from The Athletic claims that sum of around €50m (£42m) could be enough to capture the 23-year-old, making any potential deal for Gakpo far more financially viable.
There is believed to be a growing confidence at Old Trafford that the club will acquire either Antony or Gakpo before the summer transfer window shuts - and some sources even feel that there may be a chance for United to sign both players.
