How quickly the mood has turned at Manchester United.
While Erik ten Hag’s team have made tangible progress in recent months by winning the Carabao Cup and beating Barcelona in dramatic fashion, Sunday’s dismal loss at Liverpool will live long in the memory.
No matter what happens for the rest of the campaign, it will always be the season in which United lost 7-0 at Anfield.
Still, and while it will be difficult to move on from that, United have more battles ahead.
Ten Hag’s team play Real Betis in the Europa League before games against Southampton in the Premier League and Fulham in the FA Cup. To even approach getting back on track, United surely need to win all of them.
Given their reasonably small squad when compared to big-name rivals, the former Ajax manager needs all hands on deck as the club battle across a number of fronts.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester United injuries…
The Brazilian, a lynchpin of this United team only months into his career with the club, appeared to pick up an injury during the Liverpool defeat.
According to ESPN, the former Real Madrid midfielder is a doubt for the Betis game and will be assessed by the club’s medical staff in the coming days.
Potential return date: Sunday March 12 2023 vs Southampton
Martial looked set for a big season under ten Hag after impressing in pre-season but has struggled with injury for much of the campaign.
Given the extent of his problems, ten Hag is unlikely to rush the forward back into action but did recently hint Martial could return before the international break later this month.
Potential return date: March 2023
Victor Lindelof
Lindelof, who has fallen behind both Rapheal Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order anyway, missed the game at Anfield with a minor knock.
Potential return date: Thursday March 9 2023 vs Real Betis
Christian Eriksen
Back in January, United confirmed Eriksen would miss up to four months of action with a serious ankle injury, leading to the loan signing of Marcel Sabitzer.
That kind of timeframe would put the Danish international on course for a return in late April.
Potential return date: April 2023
Donny van de Beek
In a cruel blow for the Dutchman, Donny van de Beek was ruled out for the rest of the season back in January.
