Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Inter Milan over a deal to sign Denzel Dumfries.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after impressing at the World Cup, where he started every game as Netherlands reached the quarter-final. Dumfries was subject to interest from Chelsea, United and Tottenham in the summer but Erik ten Hag has supposedly accelerated talks to sign the right-back in January.
According to Calcio Mercato, Inter have opened discussions with United over a potential deal for Dumfries to make the switch to the Premier League. The former PSV defender is also available for a cut-price fee of around £35million, despite having more than two years left on his current contract in Milan.
Dumfries has only been at Inter since August 2021 after making the £11m move from PSV following an excellent Euro 2020 campaign with the Dutch. Although Dumfries is a crucial cog at the club, Inter are open to selling the player and they could make a huge profit if they get rid for the quoted asking price.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka's resurgence to form has given Ten Hag another option on the right side of defence, with Diogo Dalot also fighting for that spot. The former was all but set to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order as Wolves and Crystal Palace amongst others tracked the progress of the defender.
But it doesn't look like Wan-Bissaka is departing anytime soon, although speculation surrounding Dumfries could change things. Ex-Ajax boss Ten Hag has come up against Dumfries on many occasions in the past and now wants to bring him to Manchester.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are still in the race for Dumfries following Reece James ' latest injury setback. The 22-year-old missed the World Cup through a knee issue, but after returning for the Blues' game against Bournemouth on December 27, James was forced off for a similar problem and hasn't played since.
The west Londoners have been the busiest Premier League team in the transfer window so far, having completed five deals with Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk all making the switch to Stamford Bridge. But it doesn't look like owner Todd Boehly is stopping there.
With James set to miss at least another couple of weeks, Chelsea could dip in the market to sign a right-back, even if the player is also used as healthy competition when James is fit and available. Dumfries, like James, is an attacking full-back and contributes to both goals and assists, while his end product is also top notch.
