Manchester United fans hammered Avram Glazer before the Carabao Cup final as the club's co-chairman was pictured alongside Sir Alex Ferguson.
The club's supporters have long had an issue with their American owners, who've been at the helm at Old Trafford for around two decades. A potential sale is being discussed with the likes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressing his interest, but the Glazers remain in charge for now.
Ferguson managed the club for several years after their takeover and his continued success appeared to cover the cracks. The Scot remains a regular at the club's matches, but Glazer didn't get a warm reception despite being alongside Ferguson prior to the game.
The United section at Wembley was armed with flags and banners in the usual green and yellow colours, some of which read “For the love, not the greed”, "We want our club back" and "Glazers out". They also chanted "Sell United and f**k off home" as well as "We want Glazers out" before they took the lead.
United have failed to perform on the pitch whilst the club's infrastructure has also been allowed to decline with Old Trafford in need of heavy investment. The Glazer's have largely remained absent, which has only increased the divide between them and the fans.
Ed Woodward, who only resigned last season, was left to run the club on a day-to-day basis with his lack of experienced also raising serious question marks about the Glazer's interest and judgement. Avram Glazer was able to see United with a first trophy since 2017 as they beat Newcastle at Wembley, with the club seemingly on the rise under Erik ten Hag despite continued talk of a potential ownership change.
Last week the Premier League club set a deadline for potential buyers to express their interest with Britain's richest man Ratcliffe among them. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of Qatari bank QIB, announced his intention to bid for 100 per cent of the club.
The sale of United is likely to break the record for a sport clubs - with the Denver Broncos currently holding that record after the NFL franchise sold for $4.6bn. The Financial Times understands that the current offers are below their expectations however, which could scupper any deal.
Avram Glazer also still feels "emotionally invested" in the club, according to The Athletic. That is at odds with some other family members however. Joel Glazer is still keen to hold onto the club, but Kevin, Bryan, Edward and Darcie Glazer are all wanting to sell the family's 69 per cent shareholding - which would lead to a massive profit.
