Manchester United could lose the services of their highly-rated coach Eric Ramsay, who is once again being linked with the vacant Blackpool job.
Ramsay, 31, was initially lured to Old Trafford from Chelsea by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to improve the club's set-pieces. While Solskjaer has now left the club, Ramsay's stock has continued to rise and he is a key part of the backroom team that has thrived under Erik ten Hag this term.
It was confirmed back in March that Manchester United had given Ramsay their blessing to take up a dual-role with the Wales national team, however, there was also interest in his services from the Football League.
Championship outfit Blackpool were keen to talk to Ramsay about their head coach vacancy after parting company with Michael Appleton back in January. Ten Hag and United officials stepped in, though, to ensure that Ramsay wouldn't be prised away by making it clear how valued he is in the current set-up.
But it seems as though United's resolve could be tested again, with The Blackpool Gazette claiming that the Tangerines are once again taking an interest in Ramsay. Blackpool will start the 2023/24 campaign in League One after failing to avoid relegation and are yet to appoint a permanent successor to Mick McCarthy, who was drafted in back in January but left the club last month.
While it remains to be seen if Blackpool will make another attempt to poach Ramsay from Manchester United, there have been plenty of other former Red Devils thriving in the EFL.
Join the debate! What have you made of the success Carrick and McKenna have enjoyed in the EFL this year? Let us know here.
Former interim boss Michael Carrick has won plenty of plaudits after taking on his first managerial role at Middlesbrough. The Teeside outfit, who were near the foot of the table prior to Carrick's appointment, have been reinvigorated under their new head coach. Boro are currently in the Championship play-offs after finishing fourth in the second-tier.
Unsurprisingly given his impact at the Riverside Stadium, Carrick has already been linked with a top-flight role. His former club West Ham were credited with an interest in Carrick's services last month.
Elsewhere, Kieran McKenna - another former member of Solskjaer's coaching staff - has achieved promotion in his first managerial role after guiding Ipswich Town to League One glory.
Like Carrick, McKenna, 37, also left the club shortly after Solskjaer's dismissal. After missing out on a play-off spot last season, McKenna went one better by winning promotion in his first full campaign at the helm. Ipswich finished the season in second place, just three points behind eventual winners Plymouth Argyle, and clocked up over 100 league goals in the process.
