Manchester United are set to appoint a new chief transfer negotiator following Matt Judge’s resignation at the club. It comes as a whole host of changes begin behind the scenes at Old Trafford, signalling the start of Erik ten Hag’s era.
United will be hoping they can close the gap on their rivals under their new leadership, beginning with a strong transfer window this summer. Arsenal were the side closest to them when it comes to closing the gap, though there was still an 11-point difference between the two.
While the Gunners had one more defeat in the Premier League, they earned six more victories than their rivals. Both will be playing in the Europa League next time out though.

If they are to eye a return to the Champions League, they may have to overcome the side that made their own way back to the competition. That is Tottenham, who finished fourth following an unlikely resurgence under Antonio Conte.
Spurs have already begun their squad reshape under the Italian, adding three players to their ranks. Finally, there are Chelsea, who finished third, but struggled to end the season as strongly as they started it.
The Blues are in need of a complete rebuild, following the loss of some key players as well as those who have struggled to convince Thomas Tuchel. With a competitive few weeks ahead for all three in the transfer market, they could come to clash with the Red Devils to land their targets.
However, ten Hag’s new outfit are already looking to close that gap with the appointment of a new transfer chief. According to the Daily Mail, United are looking to appoint Tom Keane to take up the role.
Tom is brother of Everton defender Michael Keane and Wigan striker Will Keane, with expertise in handling football negotiations. It could mean that the Old Trafford side are ready to battle for a number of transfer targets.
