Man Utd discover Mason Mount transfer fee as Chelsea star added to three-man wishlist

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Mason Mount this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.

The Chelsea star has established himself at the Blues since a breakout loan spell at Derby several years ago, but currently finds himself at a career crossroads. He and the west Londoners are involved in a contract standoff as the two parties look to reach an agreement.

Mount will soon enter the final year of his contract and the 24-year-old is already of interest to Liverpool. United could join the race with the Blues looking to land £50m if they do allow the England international to move on, according to the Guardian. Todd Boehly is keen to avoid the mistakes of the previous regime and doesn't want players entering the final 12 months of their contract.

Chelsea saw the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave for nothing last summer as their deals were allowed to wind down and the hierarchy would rather cash in if a resolution cannot be reached.

Mount is seen as a possible alternative to Jude Bellingham if United miss out on the Borussia Dortmund star. The Red Devils chased the teenager when he burst onto the scene with Birmingham, but couldn't secure his signature. Bellingham has seen his profile rise further in Germany and is among the most wanted men in Europe.

Several Premier League clubs, as well as Real Madrid, could all look to move for Bellingham, who is set to cost north of £100m. United have added a midfielder in the past 12 months through the signing of Casemiro, who joined from Los Blancos.

Erik ten Hag's priority could also be the signing of a striker, namely Harry Kane. The Tottenham star finds himself with a decision to make as his contract winds down. His current employers could be in the midst of a managerial change come the summer as their trophyless spell goes on.

Kane recently broke Tottenham's goalscoring record but is yet to claim any silverware in his career as he approaches his 30s. United have made notable improvements under Ten Hag but don't have a marquee No 9 in their ranks, which could change this summer.

United could go big in the market to land the England captain, which may then affect their budget for other targets. Bellingham could prove beyond them financially if they opt to spend huge sums on Kane, which could then further their interest in Mount, who will know more on his Chelsea future by the summer.
