Dean Henderson may still have a future at Manchester United despite leaving the club on loan for Nottingham Forest in the summer.
The goalkeeper left Old Trafford in search of regular minutes before the start of the 2022-23 campaign after failing to start a single Premier League match last season. After two impressive stints at Sheffield United in 2019-20, Henderson returned to United in the summer of 2020, but only start 12 league games for the Red Devils the following campaign.
United allowed Henderson to leave the club again for game time this summer and they have since replaced him by signing Martin Dubravka on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season. Reports in Italy claim that Newcastle pushed to sell him permanently or at least include an obligation which would've forced the Red Devils to keep him ahead of the 2023-24 season and be stuck with two goalkeepers on the wrong side of 30.

United boss Erik Ten Hag now has two options to compete with David de Gea next season as, if Dubravka impresses, then United can purchase him for a low-cost sum. But if the Newcastle 'keeper doesn't convince then Henderson could return to Old Trafford.
Though, Henderson will not want to make the move back to United if he is not guaranteed regular starts in the Premier League. "I told all the hierarchy I need to go and play football, I don't want to be here playing second fiddle, Henderson told talkSPORT after his move to Forest. "It was all planned out. I was almost gone before the manager came through the door and I haven't spoken to him since. To be honest with you, it's probably been the toughest 12 months of my career.
"The conversation I had coming out of that Euros squad was 'you're coming back here to be the number one goalkeeper'. I got Covid, come back, I should have still been the number one, but unfortunately, no-one followed through with anything they told me.
"It was frustrating because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason and they wouldn't let me go. So, it was frustrating. To sit there and waste 12 months, it's criminal really at my age."
