Man Utd announce Lisandro Martinez shirt number as he misses out on 'dream' digits

Manchester United have confirmed Lisandro Martinez is their new No.6 - inheriting the shirt from Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils confirmed the signing of Martinez, 24, from Ajax for £55million on Wednesday. The Argentina international has agreed a five-year deal at Old Trafford and is Erik ten Hag's third signing since his appointment after Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

Martinez's new jersey means the No.21 - which he was expected to take - is still available. That's Frenkie de Jong's preferred number, of course, meaning his proposed transfer from Barcelona to United may still happen before the window shuts in September.
