Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino has confirmed Gabri Veiga’s likely exit this summer amid interest from several Premier League clubs.
Mirror Football told you a fortnight ago that Manchester United and Newcastle were among those looking at the 20-year-old. And Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen, with super agent Pini Zahavi guiding the youngster.
Mourino said: "We don’t want him to leave but I know of the offers he has received and it is impossible for us to pay this money to keep him in our club. The choice will be with the player and we accept that but the club that wants Gabri will have to pay the buyout clause in June.”
Veiga will cost around £35million and United lead the chase, having sent scouts to watch him six times this season.
Tottenham want to sign player who knocked Arsenal out of Europa League
Tottenham are looking at Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte — one of the Sporting Lisbon stars who helped knock Arsenal out of the Europa League this month.
Spurs scouts have been monitoring his form in recent months and the 21-year-old’s agent is understood to have been in touch with the Premier League side in recent weeks. Sporting do not want to lose Ugarte this summer and he is under contract until 2026.
He has a buyout clause of around £20million but Sporting are keen to negotiate a new deal which would see that figure become much higher.
A higher offer and the loan of a player could seal the deal if Spurs decided to take their interest further. Ugarte cost Sporting £4.5m in 2021.
Meanwhile, Antonio exit from Tottenham is expected to be finalised in the coming days once an agreement over the size of his pay-off has been reached.
The Italian’s position became untenable after he launched a blistering attack on his players and the club following last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Southampton.
And had he not been returning to his homeland for a pre-planned holiday during the international break then the terms of his departure would have been thrashed out already.
It is unlikely, however, that he will still be in charge for the clash with Everton a week tomorrow, with Spurs’ players understood to be furious about the outburst.
And once a settlement has been reached, both parties will be keen to move on.
