Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has sent a warning to Chelsea over their reported interest in Cristiano Ronaldo. It comes after the Blues were said to be in talks with the star’s agent over a potential switch this summer.
It comes as new owner Todd Boehly ramps up talks to help refresh Thomas Tuchel’s squad. The American has already overseen an exit for Romelu Lukaku, who struggled since making his club-record return, and could be set for a few busy weeks ahead.
While further departures are expected, incomings are equally important, as stressed by the manager towards the end of the season: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

While a number of key losses in the defensive department may see the need for revival there, the forward line is also a place of concern. The Blues struggled to score when it counted last season, calling for a number of changes to their options.
And, in somewhat surprising nature, reports stated that Boehly held talks with agent Jorge Mendes over the potential of a move for Ronaldo. However, Manchester United and Portugal teammate Fernandes has issued a warning over the talks.
He told Record: “Cristiano Ronaldo situation? I spoke to him weeks ago, so I expect to meet Cristiano on day 4 for the pre-season trainings - and there’s nothing else.
“I don’t think Man United are open to lose a top resource like Cristiano.” It may come as a blow to the Blues, however it may not have been a feasible deal anyway.
It could now allow the side to concentrate on other targets, with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Neymar linked to solve the scoring problem. With plenty of time left in the transfer window, there may still be twists and turns ahead.
