Around 12 players could face the axe at the end of the season with a number of huge names on the chopping block. Top of the list of potential departures list could be error-prone captain Harry Maguire who was at fault for one of the Sevilla goals during the Europa League exit on Thursday evening. Long-time keeper David De Gea, who is out of contract in the summer, is also set for the exit door after serious doubts were raised about him extending his contract in Manchester.
According to reports ten Hag and Football Director John Murtough had already decided which players were set to leave ahead of the Sevilla defeat. Anthony Martial, who has played second fiddle up front during his time in the English Premier League, is also expected to leave after a period on the sidelines.
Scotland international Scott McTominay could also be offloaded in the summer with a number of clubs linked with the midfielder. His centre-midfield teammate Fred, who has struggled for game time under ten Hag, could be surplus to requirements.
Fringe players including Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek and Brandon Williams, as well as those out on loan, like Eric Bailly and Alex Telles could also be heading out the exit door.
Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer will head back to their parent clubs Bayern Munich and Burnley at the end of the season.
