Manchester United sent scouts to watch Chelsea reject and Roma star Tammy Abraham as Erik ten Hag searches for alternatives to Tottenham star Harry Kane. United are in desperate need of a world-class striker in the summer transfer window after mutually agreeing to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo ’s contract prior to the World Cup in December.
Erik ten Hag had set his sights on a move for Kane with the England international heading into the final year of his current deal with Spurs. Daniel Levy will not make it easy for any club to sign Kane this summer as he showed when Manchester City pursued a deal for the 29-year-old in 2021.
United scouts have been spotted ‘several times’ at Roma games to watch Abraham this season. The former Blues striker has an €80million (£70million) buyback clause in his contract that would allow Chelsea to bring him back to west London this summer.
