Man United 'not afraid' of £107m asking price for Victor Osimhen and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are 'not afraid' of the transfer fee that Napoli are expected to demand for star striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports in Italy.

As reported by journalist Emanuele Cammaroto on Napoli Magazine, United and Premier League rivals Chelsea are both interested in the 24-year-old forward. Osimhen has registered 14 goals in 16 Serie A matches for Luciano Spalletti's side this season, as well as recording four assists.

The Nigerian frontman is thought to be a target for Erik ten Hag's side as the Reds look to recruit a striker in the summer following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November. The club signed Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the campaign, but United are expected to strengthen in that area when the next transfer window opens.

Discussing the future of Osimhen, Cammaroto said: "Chapter Osimhen: Manchester United and Chelsea are not afraid of the amount that Aurelio De Laurentiis will ask, that is €120m (£107m). If the Nigerian striker goes to the Premier League, Giuntoli and his staff are already working on a couple of profiles."

Elsewhere, Bild have reported that German side Eintracht Frankfurt made a late attempt to sign United defender Victor Lindelof on loan before the end of the January transfer window. However, the report states that Ten Hag was not prepared to let the centre-back depart.

Despite the 28-year-old making just six appearances in the Premier League, he has impressed when in action for the Reds and offers good cover for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. Lindelof, who is out of contract next year, has made over 200 appearances for the Reds since arriving at Old Trafford from Benfica in 2017.

After the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag revealed that United have trained with Lindelof playing in the holding midfield role, with the Swede having replaced Casemiro in that position for the final 10 minutes of the victory.

"He was educated as a six, a control, holding midfielder in Benfica, I know he can do that," the Dutchman said. "We tried it in training, maybe one game, I want my centre halves in midfield positions so we create dynamics to construct more dynamic."
