Manchester United have reportedly lined up a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (via CaughtOffside ), United have eyed up a number of options to replace Ronaldo following his premature exit from Old Trafford. Martinez, who is currently in Qatar with Argentina for the World Cup, is apparently one of the names on a list of replacements for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
It is thought that United will have to rival Paris Saint-Germain for his signature, as the French club also try to tempt the Argentine to make the move to Ligue 1. Martinez's contract is not due to expire until 2026, so Inter could demand a significant transfer fee from the Reds, something that Erik ten Hag has already been warned against after spending £225million this summer.

Of course Ronaldo's departure will have changed the landscape somewhat for United's transfer plans, but whether or not the club's hierarchy will sanction a large transfer deal in January is still yet to be seen.
Elsewhere, the Daily Telegraph have reported that Chelsea have no interest in signing Ronaldo despite their interest in him before the season started.
Chelsea had considered signing Ronaldo in the summer, but former head coach Thomas Tuchel was against the idea. Since Graham Potter replaced the German, combined with United's decision to terminate Ronaldo's contract, talk over the 37-year-old moving to the capital has arisen once again.
However, it now seems as if the Blues have categorically ruled out a move for the former United No. 7, as they look to focus on other targets instead.
