Manchester United have described footage of Nottingham Forest player Jesse Lingard and former teammate Marcus Rashford exchanging shirts on the Old Trafford pitch after the two teams met in the Premier League as 'wholesome'.
It was the first time that Lingard, 30, and Rashford, 25, have played against each other after coming through the same Man United academy system. The two were teammates at the club for seven seasons - after both breaking into the senior squad under Louis van Gaal during the 2015/16 campaign - with the pair playing more than 150 matches together. Only David de Gea played more matches alongside Lingard during that time.
On social media after Forest lost 3-0, the two both shared messages with each other. Rashford captioned a photo of the exchanging shirts with 'more than just a friend, good to see you bro' and Lingard replied 'all love bro'. Former teammates Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who now plays for Bayer Leverkusen, and Doncaster Rovers defender Ro-Shaun Williams, who was back at Old Trafford to watch the match, each replied to the post with a red love heart emoji.

Man United have now posted the footage showing them both swapping shirts, showing Lingard putting an arm around Rashford before the goalscorer covers his mouth before having a word with his friend. The club captioned the post: 'A wholesome shirt swap.'
