Roy Keane thought Gareth Southgate’s substitutes failed to make an impact for England in their goalless draw with the United States in Friday’s World Cup clash.
He branded the performance from the Three Lions “terrible” and raised his eyebrows at the decision not to introduce Manchester City star Phil Foden from the bench. As long as they avoid a four-goal defeat to Wales on Tuesday, England will progress into the knockouts.
But the performance was less than impressive with some concerned about the lack of creativity the team showed. Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson came on but Foden - who featured as a substitute in Monday’s 6-2 win over Iran - was left on the bench.
