Mason Greenwood will not play or train for Manchester United until further notice following allegations made against him by a woman on social media, the club has confirmed.
United said in a short statement: "Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice."
Greenwood, 20, made his United debut in March 2019 and signed a new long-term contract in January last year. He has played 129 times and scored 35 goals for the club and was capped by England in September 2020.
In a previous statement issued on Sunday morning, United said: "We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind."
United resume their season against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round against Middlesbrough on Friday night.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick is due to attend his pre-match press cnference on Thursday afternoon.
