Man United and David de Gea 'not on same page' with contract talks and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to extend goalkeeper David de Gea's contract.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Erik ten Hag is open to signing a new first-choice shot-stopper, despite De Gea wanting to remain at Old Trafford. The 32-year-old has made more than 500 appearances for the Reds and solidified his position as the club's No.1 after enduring a difficult start to his career in Manchester.

De Gea's current contract runs until June and also includes the option for the club to extend it by a further year. While the Spaniard is keen to stay with the Reds, extending his deal is thought to be something that United are apprehensive about doing.

MEN Sport recently reported that Ten Hag had indicated he intends to extend the deals of all the senior players in the same position as De Gea, including Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford. However, the long-term future of De Gea at Old Trafford remains unclear.

Elsewhere, Plettenberg has also claimed that Chelsea are ahead of United in the hunt to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet Youssoufa Moukoko.

Writing on Twitter, he suggested that the Reds are 'monitoring' the 18-year-old, but that the London club are 'hotter' in their pursuit of the young striker.

Moukoko registered six goals and six assists in 22 appearances for the Bundesliga club before the break in the domestic campaign, and also came off the bench in Germany's World Cup group stage clash with Japan.
