A man had to be treated in hospital after he was robbed in broad daylight whilst walking down a secluded path in Ayr.
The 35-year-old man was taken to Ayr Hospital after the ordeal which saw his bag snatched from him containing a three-figure sum of cash and personal belongings.
The shocking incident took place on Monday between 8.30am and 8.55am.
The man was walking along a path in a grassy area off Lochside Road near to Heathfield Road.
He was then approached from behind by someone who stole his bag and then fled the scene.
The man has since been discharged from hospital.
Cops have launched a probe and are appealing for witnesses. However there is no description of the suspect available at this time.
Detectives have urged anyone to come forward with area popular amongst dog walkers.
They believe that there was a woman with a black Labrador on the path at the same time of the incident.
Detective Constable Keyes-Parkinson, Ayr CID, said: “Although this robbery happened in what would be considered a secluded or off-the-beaten-track area, it is used by dog walkers, and so we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the robbery or anything suspicious, to get in touch.
“From CCTV, a cyclist is seen emerging from the footpath into Lochside Road at almost the same time as the man who was robbed and also we believe there was a woman walking a black Labrador on the path around that time too.
"We’d ask them to get in touch with police as they may have seen something that could help our investigation.”
