A man has been taken to hospital and another arrested after a serious crash in Bolton. It happened on the A6 Manchester Road in Westhoughton at around 12:30pm this afternoon.
Emergency services including paramedics, police, and fire crews raced to the scene following the smash involving a van and a motorbike.
There are unconfirmed reports of the air ambulance being spotted in the area. A man has been taken to hospital Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed.

A man was also arrested at the scene. It has not yet been confirmed what the arrest is for. The road remains closed. "Officers are at the scene; a cordon remains in place and delays are expected in the area" GMP said.
The force's Bolton West Twitter account urged people travelling in the area to plan their joruney following the "serious collision."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 12:40pm this afternoon, Tuesday 19 July, we were called to attend a road traffic collision on Manchester Road, Over Hulton, involving a motorcycle and a van.
“One crew from Farnworth fire station was mobilised to the scene, where they worked in support of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.
“The crew was in attendance for around an hour.”
