Man suffers serious injuries in violent Leeds bank holiday street brawl in Beeston

A man has suffered serious injuries after a brawl broke out on a street in Beeston during the early hours of Monday morning.

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) were called to Burton Road at around 4.45am today (Easter Monday) to reports of a fight in the street involving several people. A spokesperson for the force said officers found a man with "serious injuries to his upper arm" after arriving at the scene. They added enquiries are ongoing to "establish the full facts of what happened".

A huge cordon remains in place today just yards from Hunslet Moor Primary School and crime scene investigation teams have been pictured combing the street for clues this morning. Residents have told of their shock at waking up to a large crime scene outside their front door, with one man saying he was told a burglary had "gone wrong".

In a statement given to Leeds Live, a spokesperson for WYP said: "Police were called to a report of several people fighting on Burton Road, Beeston at around 4:45am this morning.

"Upon attendance, officers found one male at the scene who had suffered serious injuries to his upper arm. Enquiries are on-going to establish the full facts of what happened.

"Anyone who witnessed or may have information about the incident is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police by calling 101 or online quoting reference 263 of 18/4."
