Man suffers serious injuries after being struck on the head outside Jesmond bar

A man remains in hospital almost one month after sustaining serious head injuries in a suspected assault.

The man was reportedly struck in the head while outside of Holy Hobo in the Jesmond area of Newcastle. The alleged assault caused him to fall to the ground and he sustained serious head injuries as a result.

The incident occurred outside of the bar at around 12.20am on Sunday, April 23. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and he remains there in a serious but stable condition.

Northumbria Police has launched an investigation into the incident and are carrying out a number of enquiries.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers received a report that at about 12.20am on Sunday, April 23, a man had been struck in the head while outside Holy Hobo, in Jesmond. This caused him to fall to the ground and he sustained serious head injuries as a result.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition."

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the suspected assault.
