Man stole Asda customer's loyalty card and splurged on frying pans, a new TV and flatbreads

A man who worked in Asda used a customer's loyalty credit to go on a shopping spree.

Samuel Walsh, 26, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday (May 19), having pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud. Prosecuting, Henry Riding told the court that Walsh's victim Ms Hale had moved three lots of loyalty credit with Asda onto one loyalty account in April 2020.

This gave her £455.83 to spend in Asda stores. She tried to use the card at the Bromborough store on April 29 that year. However, she couldn't use it to pay as the balance was around £40.
