BENGALURU: A 48-year-old man hanged himself in his house near Bannerghatta on Wednesday, a day after he stabbed his wife for allegedly preparing ‘tasteless’ chicken kebab.
Police identified the deceased as Suresh M, a garment employee. His wife Shalini, 42, is recovering in a hospital.
Police said Shalini, also a garment employee, returned home from work at 7pm on Tuesday. Suresh asked her to prepare chicken kebab for him. She did so but Suresh was upset because he felt the kebab wasn’t tasty. He allegedly abused her, stabbed her in the head and hands and hit her with wooden logs. Neighbours heard Shalini’s screams for help, rushed to her rescue and admitted her to hospital. In the melee, Suresh fled.
Alerted by the hospital about the incident, police recorded Shalini’s statement on Wednesday and registered a case of attempt to murder against Suresh.
A police team went to Suresh’s house and found him hanging. An officer said Suresh probably ended his life for having assaulted his wife and fearing consequences of that.
