A workman has shared his shock after spotting a mouse running across the floor of a Burger King restaurant.
The footage, taken by James Jones, 26, shows a mouse scurrying around underneath tables where customers had been seated.
The mouse then ran away out of shot inside the restaurant at the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham.
Spotting the mouse as he walked by the Burger King on Monday (May 9), James said: “We were walking through the shopping centre to where we had parked.
“Burger King hadn’t been closed for long - probably about half an hour.
“As I was walking past, we saw a mouse underneath one of the tables just running around inside – it was literally around the foot of the table.
“I have eaten there before when I’ve been to the Bullring, but I wouldn’t eat there again now.”
A spokesperson for Burger King said: "Food safety and hygiene are a top priority at Burger King UK.
"We work closely with environmental health teams to ensure this is delivered to the highest standard.
"We are investigating the matter raised and will be working to ensure all necessary measures are carried out to maintain a clean and safe environment for our guests."
The news comes after Burger King recently announced its plans to open 200 new restaurants across the UK by 2026 as its profits have soared.
The burger giant said it has “good visibility” in regards to where it wants to open new branches, but hasn't revealed where any new locations will be.
Burger King recently recorded a jump in sales, with total revenues climbing by 68% in 2021 to £211.7million. Like-for-like sales were up by 46%.
The restaurant chain swung to a £33.4million operating profit for the year, compared with a £7.5million loss in 2020 when restaurants were forced to shut for months at a time due to the Covid pandemic.
Burger King said it benefited from the addition of 48 new owned restaurants last year.
This included 19 new restaurant openings as well as the acquisition of 29 sites from franchisees, including its flagship Leicester Square location.

"We have a strong development pipeline to further grow our UK footprint, and we are very well positioned to take advantage of the clear market opportunities ahead of us.
