Man 'shot with pellet gun' in violent Dublin altercation as gardai launch inquiry into incident

A man was rushed to hospital after a violent altercation took a dangerous turn in Dublin city centre.

The male, aged in his 30s, was taken for treatment after he was shot by a pellet gun after the incident between two groups.

The shocking scene unfolded in the middle of the day in the capital.

Dublin Live report that the incident involving the two groups happened just off Grand Canal Street Lower in Dublin 2 on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm.

In the footage, seen by Dublin Live, men were observed hurling planks of wood at one another in the street.

It is understood that a man in his 30s was injured in the assault after being shot with a pellet gun. He was brought to hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are non-life threatening.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí from Pearse Street were alerted shortly after 4:30pm on Friday the 28th of October 2022, following an alleged assault incident at Hogan Court, Wilsons Place, off Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2.

"A man in his 30s injured in the course of the incident was taken to hospital to be treated for apparent pellet wounds. He has since been discharged.

"The scene was examined by local scenes of crime officers. No arrests have been made at this time and enquires into the matter are ongoing."
