A man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after he was shot in the groin during an alleged carjacking in southern Queensland on Thursday morning.

Police allege two men, aged 30 and 33, approached the male driver of a ute in Dalby, west of Toowoomba, around 8:30am and an altercation took place where the driver was allegedly shot in the groin.

Detective Inspector Jason Kitto said the offenders had demanded the victim's vehicle.

"The victim has since been flown from Dalby to Toowoomba hospital and he's currently undergoing treatment," Inspector Kitto said.

"The injury sustained to the victim is not life-threatening at this time."

Police allege the two groups were not known to each other.

The two men then fled the area in the ute, heading towards Toowoomba.

The vehicle was tracked for some time along the Warrego Highway, before the successful deployment of a tyre deflation device near Charlton.

Inspector Kitto said the ute was then involved in a collision with a motorbike at the intersection of James Street and West Street in South Toowoomba.

"The male rider of that motorcycle was treated on scene by [paramedics], my understanding is he's currently seeking further treatment for minor injuries," he said.

Police said the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of O'Quinn Street and West Street, with police taking the two men into custody just before 10am.

Officers allegedly located two firearms in the vehicle.

Inspector Kitto said the two offenders were known to police and were from the Darling Downs region.

Investigations are ongoing, and police have appealed for anyone with dashcam or CCTV vision of these incidents to come forward.
