Six Queensland men have been charged after a man was shot following an altercation on a Brisbane street.

Police will allege each of the group, aged between 18 and 24, committed affray and went armed in public to cause fear.

Earlier on Sunday, police said an altercation is understood to have occurred on the street before the 21-year-old Goodna man was shot in his upper left arm.

Investigations are continuing after police were called to Woolloongabba at 11am on Sunday on reports of shots fired.

The shot man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition. No one else was injured.

A crime scene was established at the location of the shooting on Carl Street.
