‘Very brazen’: Man shot dead in car on suburban Sydney driveway

A man in his 20s has been shot dead while sitting in a car in a quiet suburban street on Sydney’s outskirts.

The southwest suburb of Elizabeth Hills was rocked by the sound of multiple gunshots about 4pm Monday.

The man’s car was on his driveway on Hertfordshire Street when he was ambushed in what reportedly has the hallmarks of an execution-style killing.

“Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene,” police said.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said it was a “very brazen” attack that appeared to be gangland related.

The victim has not been formally identified but media have reported his name is Marvin Oraiha, 24, who may have low-level links with the Comanchero bikies.

The incident coincided with the discovery of two burnt out cars about six minutes away — one on Bluff Street, Green Valley, and a second on Lewis Street, Bonnyrigg Heights.

Police are yet to confirm if the three scenes are connected.

Witnesses told Channel 9 of an Audi speeding away from the murder site.

One man said he heard multiple gunshots.

“Everyone’s just a bit nervous at the moment trying to get some sort of information, see what’s going on.

“This is unusual for our area so we just want to hear something,” he told the Today Show.

Commissioner Webb told Karl Stefanovic police were working three crime scenes which could be connected.

“At the moment it’s a very open investigation. We have three crime scenes that we’re processing.

“Obviously the scene in Elizabeth Hill, and two locations where cars were located burnt-out. Very early days. And detectives on the ground.”
