Man shot at over petty issue near Delhi's Kanahiya Nagar metro station

NEW DELHI: In north-west Delhi's Keshavpuram area, a 35-year-old man named Mahadev was shot during a confrontation between two groups over a minor issue on Friday, as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred near the Kanahiya Nagar metro station, resulting in Mahadev sustaining a bullet wound to his back.

The police were alerted by a hospital where Mahadev was admitted around 3 am. Preliminary investigations suggest that the two groups engaged in a fight on social media, challenging each other to settle their dispute in person. However, the exact reasons for the altercation are yet to be determined.

According to the police, Mahadev, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in south Delhi, arrived with a group of six men in two cars near Kohat Enclave. The opposing group also arrived in separate vehicles. Following verbal exchanges, a gunshot was fired, injuring Mahadev. Both groups quickly left the scene after the incident.

Mahadev, who is facing two criminal cases related to robberies in south Delhi, is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. While additional individuals are suspected to have been injured in the altercation, none have come forward to file complaints.

Police teams have been mobilized to apprehend the accused individuals involved in the incident.
