Man shares 'genius' hack to save money when booking holidays and shopping online

A man has shared a way around retailer's 'sneaky' methods to get to you spend more.

According to TikTok user @Frugal_Spender, shops use cookies when shoppers are browsing online to get an idea of what you are likely to buy. He explained how they do it and a 'clever' hack to get around it.

In his clip, which has been viewed more than 26,000 times, the social media user said: "Here is a hack that could save you a ton of money when shopping online. It genuinely blew my mind."

He explained how the shops charged you more, as he said: "When you shop online you create cookies that are tracked. And I think we all kind of know that by now.

"But, did you know that they are tracked to the extent that they know the price of the item that you lasted looked at, and in particular flights? If you leave and then come back to that same website, the price goes up. Sneaky little s****."

The Frugal Spender went on to provide his money-saving hack as he said: "But the good news is, there is a way around it. All you need to do is go incognito or use private browsing when you shop online. That way you are ensuring that you get the best deals."

One user replied in the comments asking how exactly you can go incognito. The video creator replied: "In browser > 3 dots/tab button > private browsing/incognito. To clear cookies... depending on your phone, go to settings > clear history/browsing data."

Another user added their own advice, as they said: "It is called dynamic pricing, it is actually used on a lot of sites. Best thing to do is clear cookies before going incognito."

Others applauded him for his helpful hack. Jay said: "Wow I thought this was an Urban Myth... Blew my mind."

Rudi said: "This should not be legal. Thanks for the info." Meanwhile, a third said: "Thank you for this".
