Authorities in Wisconsin are investigating an incident where a 19-year-old man from Menasha set fire to a district office leased to U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman in response to talks of a potential TikTok ban. The arson attack occurred just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, prompting a swift response from the Fond du Lac Police Department and City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
The suspected arsonist was apprehended near the strip mall where the office was located and admitted to starting the fire due to concerns over a TikTok ban bill that Grothman had supported. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the damage was contained, as confirmed by Grothman and Fond du Luc Police Chief Aaron Goldstein.

The suspect is currently in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail, with arson charges pending. Meanwhile, TikTok was in the process of restoring operations in the U.S. following a brief blackout after the Supreme Court upheld a law to ban the app if not sold in the country.
President-elect Trump's promise to issue an executive order to extend TikTok operations on Inauguration Day led to the app's return, with a message thanking users for their patience and support. Trump's call for companies to prevent TikTok from remaining dark was echoed on social media, emphasizing the importance of national security and ensuring Americans could access the platform for upcoming events.
