A man remains in hospital with serious injuries after a crash between three HGV lorries closed a busy road for 18 hours. The A40 in Carmarthenshire was closed from 1.45am on Wednesday, November 9, to 10pm that night after the serious incident.
One man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains after the collision between St Clears and Whitland. Officers are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Two emergency ambulance vehicles and an air ambulance attended the incident.

The latest statement from Dyfed-Powys Police, issued on Thursday, says: "Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses to a serious collision involving three lorries on the A40 in Carmarthenshire in the early hours of Wednesday, November 9.
"Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision between St Clears and Whitland at around 1.40am. One man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
"The road was closed for more than 18 hours for investigations, recovery of the vehicles and a clean-up, and reopened at around 10pm.
"Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, either online at https://bit.ly/DPPContactOnline, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today, November 9, shortly after 1.40am to reports of a road traffic collision involving three lorries on the A40 between St Clears and Whitland. We sent two emergency ambulances and one duty operations manager to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One person was flown to University Hospital of Wales Cardiff for further treatment.”
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service added: "On Wednesday, November 9 at 2am, crews from Whitland, Narberth, Pembroke Dock and Carmarthen were called to an incident on the A40, Whitland. Incident involved three Heavy Goods Vehicles in a RTC [road traffic collision]. Crews used cutting gear and winch. Ambulance Service on scene. Crews left the incident at 4.29am."
