A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Morpeth.
The emergency services were called to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on the A196 in Morpeth at around 8.45pm last night (Wednesday, April 5).
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries while the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist police with enquiries. The road was closed between the Guidepost roundabout and Stobhill during the incident and drivers were urged by police to avoid the area. It has since reopened.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At 8.45pm today (Wednesday) we were contacted by our colleagues at the North East Ambulance Service, who were in attendance on the A196 in Morpeth after receiving reports a vehicle had been in collision with a pedestrian.
"Officers attended the scene and the male pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist police with enquiries."
