Man seen 'running' from Ayrshire shop crash site in early hours of morning

A man was spotted fleeing from a vehicle after it crashed into an Ayrshire shop in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the Spar in Crosshouse at around 1.25am after receiving a report that a black Audi TT has careered into the store.

A man was spotted running from the vehicle in the direction of Springside, police have confirmed.

Cops now say any information could prove vital as they look to establish what happened.

Additional patrols have also been deployed to the village just outside Kilmarnock.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland, from Kilmarnock CID, said: “Our enquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are in their early stages and any information could prove vital.

“There will be extra patrols in the area, as officers investigate the incident and engage with the local community.

“If you believe you can assist us, please call 101, quoting incident 0180 of 29 August.”

The street outside the village shop was taped off by police this morning.

The popular shop benefited from an extensive makeover, which was only completed recently.
