Man seeking MBBS seat for daughter duped of Rs 26 lakh

NAGPUR: Gopal Parate, working in a managerial post at a corporate company, was duped to the tune of Rs26.52 lakh by four persons on the pretext of getting his daughter admission in a reputed medical college in Mumbai.

Parate was approached by one Kamran Khan who had initially promised an admission in a Bengaluru college but later agreed to help getting seat in the Mumbai-based college.

Parate had gone to meet Khan in Mumbai but he had suggested him to meet his accomplice Rakesh Patil who had taken a DD of Rs1.12 lakh from the victim. After some days, Khan had suggested Parate to meet Mayank Agrawal introducing him as an administrative officer of the college. Agrawal demanded Rs25 lakh from Parate who had initially given him Rs15 lakh. Later Parate was told to transfer another Rs10 lakhs in the account of one Ashish Jaiswal.

Agrawal had also sent a provisional admission letter to Parate which later had turned out to be fake. Parate had later met the dean of the college who had pointed out to him about being duped. The racketeers too had stopped answering Parate’s calls.

An offence was registered at Ajni police station following Parate’s complaint.
